Our ultimate goal is to connect the peoples of the world together as
one family while helping preserve each group’s cultural uniqueness.
For example, an African should always value the heritage
of his ancestors. At the same time, he should be open
to the accomplishments of Asians and Europeans. Experiencing
this, he has the potential to appreciate values from
outside his culture…and they from him. This simple
act of understanding and sharing makes all our lives
better, more peaceful and more enjoyable.
At its core, the Foundation believes that such goals
are impossible to attain unless people have access
to basic health care and education. Good health care
and education are fundamental to any economic or social
issue.
How Can the UVCEF help?
The UVCEF can partner with other organizations to help
make more resources available to the community. For example,
the Charlotte Community Health Clinic helps uninsured
low-income families, the elderly and neglected children.
Presbyterian Hospital assists this effort by providing
trained support, supplies and facilities. Both organizations
donate resources to improve the health of the indigent
but they still need doctors, nurses and other professionals
to volunteer.
The UVCEF can partner with these organizations, offering
assistance by recruiting experienced Indian physicians
who are ready to travel on their own expenses. They will
volunteer for 45 days and practice medicine under the
supervision of licensed physicians in the Clinic. This
is a win-win situation. The uninsured receive excellent
treatment, the Clinic expands its services and Indian
doctors gain the experience of working abroad with a
different patient population.
In education, the UVCEF has established schools and
partnered with learning institutions in India, the USA,
and Africa. Our schools implement rigorous standards
to help our students achieve academic excellence and
social understanding. Through partner and governmental
programs, we aid schools by providing volunteer and paid
professionals, books, computers and other supplies.
Employment issues are of major concern to the UVCEF.
The young have lost faith in systems that chronically
under-educate and under-employ its citizens. Left unresolved,
this can create difficult social and economic problems.
We help by teaching basic skills to those in need.
Ultimately, giving people the opportunity for economic
success creates a safer, more tolerant world where
cultures co-exist peacefully and begin the process
of living as one family.
